A meal planner that plans around your pickiest eater.

Tell FamSync what each person likes, won't touch and can't have. It plans a week of dinners where every kid has something they'll eat, says why it picked each one, and lets you swap any night.

Why this exists.

I'm Reid. I'm a parent and I make FamSync. Every meal planner I tried planned for an imaginary family that eats everything. Real families have one kid who only eats beige food, one who has just discovered "spicy" and a parent who'd like a vegetable now and then. So I built the planner around the people at the table.

The 5 p.m. problem

Most dinner stress isn't about cooking. It's the decision. You stand in front of the fridge trying to find the one meal that the six-year-old will eat, that doesn't contain the thing your middle kid is allergic to, and that you can make in thirty minutes. Then you do it again tomorrow.

A good meal planner does that thinking once, for the week, and does it the way you would: knowing who's eating.

How FamSync plans dinner around picky kids

Each person gets a taste profile

For every person in the family, kids included, you note what they love, what they won't eat, and what they can't have. "Loves pasta. Won't eat mushrooms. No peanuts." It takes a couple of minutes per person, and you can change it any time a phase starts or ends.

It plans the week, and tells you why

The planner builds a week of dinners and explains each pick in plain words: "Leo loves chicken nuggets", "Mia loves pasta". The goal shown at the top is simple: every kid fed, every night. Nights you've already planned stay as they are.

"Your week, around the kids." Chicken tenders because Leo loves nuggets, chicken alfredo because Mia loves pasta, and a Swap button on every night.

Allergies and diets are hard rules

The planner never bends an allergy or a diet to make the week work. If someone can't have it, that dinner doesn't get picked. Dislikes are softer: it avoids a kid's main dislikes and only falls back on one if nothing else fits. It also tries not to repeat a dinner within two weeks and keeps weeknight dinners quick.

One honest caution: FamSync checks dishes against their ingredient lists, but brands and recipes vary. Always check labels when an allergy is serious.

Swap any night, and try something new now and then

Don't fancy Thursday's pick? Tap Swap and you get another option that still fits everyone. Every so often the planner suggests something new, so the week doesn't shrink to the same five dinners forever.

Tell it how dinner went

After dinner, tell FamSync how it went. Did the kids eat it? Was it a hit? Next week's plan takes that into account, so it gets better at your family the more you use it.

No AI chat needed

The planner runs on your phone from a catalog of a couple of hundred family dinners. You don't have to type prompts or argue with a chatbot. You set up the tastes once and tap Plan.

Your own recipes, from a photo or a link

Grandma's casserole card, a recipe from a blog, a page torn out of a magazine: scan it from a photo or paste the link, and it's saved. When a dinner is on the plan, send the missing ingredients to the shared grocery list. They sort themselves by aisle, so the shop is one lap.

Tips for picky eaters that work with any planner

These are practical habits lots of parents swear by. They're not medical advice.

  • One safe food on every plate. Bread, rice, cucumber, whatever your kid reliably eats. It takes the pressure off trying the rest.
  • Build-your-own nights. Tacos, rice bowls, baked potatoes and pizza let each kid choose what goes on theirs.
  • Let each kid pick one night. Kids eat better when it was their idea. Their favorite goes in their taste profile, and the planner works it in.
  • Serve new foods next to familiar ones. A new vegetable beside a loved one is easier than a whole new dinner.
  • Keep track of what worked. That's what the "how did dinner go" note is for.

For the longer, app-free version, with a 7-night template and the base-and-toppings method, read planning dinners when every kid eats differently.

If picky eating comes with weight loss, gagging, or real distress at mealtimes, talk to your pediatrician. A meal planner can make dinner calmer, but it isn't the fix for that.
